Sergio Igor began his piano studies with his grandparents, Rina Clzavara Kipmann and Demetrio Kipman. Later he went on to study singing with Caio Ferraz and Francisco Campos Neto, composition with Aylton Escobar, Osvaldo Lacerda and Almeida Prado, as well as counterpoint and harmony with Vera Helena Curi. In the meantime, he graduated from Fundação Getúlio Vargas in 1991. In 1993, he moved to Russia where he studied regency with Mihail Kukúshkin and Ilá Mússin, in Saint Petersburg’s Rimski Kórsakov Conservatory. In the following year, he moved to Siberia to persuit his studies at the Glinka Conservatory in Novossibrirsk, graduating as Symphonic and Opera Regent in 1996. He took part in three international tours accompanying russian soprano Etéri Gvazáva with the piano and directing the Chamber Orchestra of Young Virtuosi of Siberia. Since then, he has directed concerts of the most varied formations both in Brazil and abroad, such as the Philarmonic Chamber Orchestra of Novossibirsk (Russia), the Youth Symphonic Orchestra (Dominican Republic), the Youth Symphonic Orchstra of São Paulo State, the Philarmonic Orchestra of Santo André City, Antunes Câmara Orchestra, Philarmonic Orchestra of Santo Amaro and Universidade Livre de Música’s Choir, among other groups. He has been responsible for launching the program “Música nas Escolas” (Music in Schools) by São Paulo state´s Culture and Education Secretariat, and directed the orchestra Sinfonia Cultura, from Cultura broadcast network, in a live performance to schools in the state.
His composition style has been considered by some as multi-styled within a post-modern trend. His music has been performed in various cities in Brazil, Germany, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Belgium, Angola, Colombia and Dominican Republic. He has also developed soundtracks for scenic projects. He has been awarded the “Siberian Culture Commendam”, from Siberian Culture Comitee, for his efforts in strengthening bonds between Brazilian and Russian culture.
He took part in solo piano recodings and duos with Paulo Gazzaneo and acted as regent and curator of the Brazilian Culture Festival of East Europe and the Choir Music Festival of Santo André. He has given classes in regency, composition, chamber music and music history in the Tatuí Conservatory as well as in the Centro Cultural São Paulo. Presently, he teaches at the Centro de Estudos Musicais Tom Jobim and at the Brazilian Mozarteum. He has collaborated in texts for the specialized media and is the creator and presentor of the programs “Vastók – A Música do Leste Europeu” and “Regência Russa – Uma Escola”, both produced and aired by Rádio Cultura FM in São Paulo. He has also been musical consultant of Sinfonia Cultura, from Cultura Broadcast Network. He has recorded two albums with pieces by Brazilian composers, including some of his own work. He also has helped life quality projects for employees of companies such as Gradiente, Oracle, Pfizer, Sanofi-Aventis, and Wyeth Indústria Farmacêutica through vocal training and lectures.
